Hassan, who lives in Germany, has a hereditary ailment - junctional epidermolysis bullosa - that leaves his skin as delicate as a butterfly's wings.
A bit of his skin was taken, its DNA was repaired in the lab and the altered skin united back on.
After about two years, the new skin shows up totally typical.
The family's full points of interest have not been discharged to secure their protection, but rather Hassan's dad said the change was "like a fantasy".
"Hassan feels like a typical individual now, he plays, he's being dynamic, he's making the most of his life and he's not the way he was earlier," he said.
Powerless skin
Hassan was conceived in Syria and has had rankles and wounds everywhere on his body since he was a couple of days old.
Regularly, the distinctive layers of the skin are held together by "tying down proteins".
